Inmate Attempts Escape Following Court Hearing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- A 22-year-old Fort Wayne man was struck down by a taser after trying to flee following a court hearing.

Austin R. Otolski appeared in the Allen Superior Court Monday at 9:30 a.m. where he was remanded into custody. An Allen County Police Officer handcuffed Otolski and led him from the courtroom.

While waiting on an elevator, Otolski turned and started to run down the court hallway. The officer instructed Otolski to stop running but police say he ignored commands. The officer then deployed his Taser, striking Otolski and bringing him to the floor where he was again taken into custody without further indicent.

Otolski was charged with escape, a class C felony. He remains in the Allen County Jail without bond.
