INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released their July report and the unemployment rate has held steady.
The Indiana DWD reports the unemployment rate for July was 5.9% even though the state added nearly 10,000 jobs. The department reports the unemployment rate held steady, despite the additional jobs, due to a sizeable increase in the labor force. However, the unemployment rate has decreased from last year's 7.6%.
The Indiana labor force is growing at remarkable rate, reportedly 8 times more than the national average. This means that additional jobs don't have the same impact on the unemployment rate.
