INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- Indiana Democrats will be converging on Indianapolis tonight, for their state convention.

The party will be hoping to show solidarity for a slate of state office candidates, and for a party platform that deals with schools, the economy, and same sex marriage. Front runners are already identified to be nominated for Secretary of State, State Auditor, and State Treasurer to run in November. Democrats say their platform will support family values for people of all sexual orientations.

Democratic State Rep. Phil Giaquinta said, " With regards to the marriage issue, just supporting and strengthening family values for all folks, and that's something we've stressed in the legislature and expect our platform to do the same."

Giaquinta says that the Republican convention in Fort Wayne next week could see a major debate over what language to put in the platform when it comes to same-sex marriage.
