FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Memorial Coliseum was a house united Wednesday as Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne conducted its 47th commencement.
More than 1,900 graduates were honored at the ceremony with degrees and certificates from either IU, Purdue or IPFW.
This year marked the 50th anniversary of the institution and the ceremony touched on the growth and importance of IPFW.
Purdue University president Mitch Daniels and Indiana University president Michael McRobbie attended the commencement.
IPFW began in 1964 after leaders from the community partnered with officials from Purdue University and Indiana University to create what is now known as IPFW. Today, IPFW serves more than 13,000 students and over 400 full-time faculty members and offers more than 200 academic programs.
