FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A state of the art IMAX theater is coming to Rave Motion Pictures at the Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center in Fort Wayne.
Indiana's NewsCenter spoke with Rave Motion Pictures Vice President of Marketing Jeremy Devine by phone Wednesday afternoon.
Devine is based out of Dallas, Texas.
Devine said Rave Motion Pictures reached an agreement on September 17,2010 with IMAX to retrofit 13 existing multi-plexes across the country.
The Rave Theatre at Jefferson Pointe will be one of those locations.
With IMAX, the position and shape of the screen, along with the acoustics in the walls are set to give the viewer a better movie experience.
20-year-old Matt Bullock watched an IMAX movie for the first and only time in Florida.
"It was pretty sweet. The picture is a lot brighter and it brings a lot more people," said Bullock who was interviewed outside to the Rave Theatre at Jefferson Pointe.
Meanwhile, Bullock's friend, 20-year-old Ricky Montgomery, has never seen an IMAX movie before.
"I would definitely pay 13 dollars for an IMAX. It would be a good experience. Like I said It would draw in a lot of people from around this area, especially one's that have never seen IMAX movies like me," said Montgomery who was also interviewed outside to the Rave Theatre at Jefferson Pointe.
The new IMAX theatre is also expected to boost nearby businesses.
"I can see it already, this place already gets crazy on the weekends. So Yeah I think it's going to bring in great business and it's a wonderful location out here," said Valerie Tullis, an employee at "The Nut Store" across the walkway from Rave.
Vice President of Marketing Jeremy Devine said Rave Motion Pictures is not sure how much tickets are going to cost in Fort Wayne.
However, IMAX tickets are 13 or 14 dollars for adults at the Hamilton 16 IMAX, 87 miles away in Noblesville, Indiana.
Devine said their goal is to offer competitive pricing.
Officials are hoping to have the retrofit complete by February or March of 2011.
