Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A local high schooler is honored by the United States Army.

Thursday an announcement at Homestead High School revealed one of its students has been selected to perform with the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. This is the first time in the school’s history a student has been selected to perform with the All-American Marching Band.

Christopher Podlaski is a trumpet player in the Homestead Spartan Alliance Band. Christopher is one of 125 students who were picked to perform at the All-American Bowl in January.

Thursday his family, teachers and fellow band members filled the school's auditorium to show their support.

“It was really exciting, really good to know they all supported this. I'm really excited, I'm really excited to get down there and perform with the best musicians from around the country, so it should be really fun," said Podlaski.

The All-American Bowl is January 5 in San Antonio, Texas. Christopher will perform with the marching band at half time.
