Heavy Snow Causing Power Outages, I&M Reports Thousands Without Power (VIDEO)

INDIANA (21Alive) -- Not only are we dealing with the snow, some are do so in the dark.

Several power outages have been reported, especially in the Waynedale area, which lost electricity around 7:17 Wednesday morning, either from drivers hitting power poles or from the sheer weight of the snow weighting heavy on the powerlines.

Indiana Michigan Power has over 7,228 customers without electricity in Allen County, 117 customers in Whitley County and 797 in Grant County.

Viewers are reporting outages in Ashley and Auburn as well.
