STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- A Hamilton couple was arrested Wednesday just before 1:30 p.m. in connection with an investigation into an alleged battery and neglect of a dependent child.

Christopher Wickerham, 29 and April Wickerham, 32, were taken into custody from their home near Hamilton by the Steuben County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Office launched the investigation in February after receiving a report alleging that a 6-year-old child of Christopher and step-child of April was believed to have been mistreated while in their care.

They are charged with one count each of class D felony battery to a child and one count each of class D felony neglect of a dependent.
