FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Fantastic Sam’s hair salon spent Sunday afternoon raising money for racer Eric Woods' hospital bills.

Woods was in a car accident at Baer Field on July 27, during the Gold Cup Mini Stock feature. The crash left him with two protruding discs in his spine, and no feeling in his right leg.

Fantastic Sam’s has deep ties to Baer Field as it's a sponsor of the modified races, and the salon owner's husband and son both race at the field. Needless to say it's a charity that's near and dear to their hearts.

"We're hoping that this money that we raise helps to get him the surgery that he needs to hopefully be able to walk again. He has a newborn that was born the day before his accident and he also has another little guy. So this will help so that he can walk again and spend time with the kids,” said Stephanie Holmes, Fantastic Sam’s General Manager.

The salon donated $2 of every haircut to Woods' charity. They also sold t-shirts and held a car wash. A portion of that money is also going to Woods.
