WELLS COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- A teenager has been pronounced dead after what police are saying was a gun-cleaning accident.

Heath Bumgarner, 18, from Uniondale died at Lutheran Hospital Sunday after an incident involving a handgun Saturday.

According to the Indiana State Police, Bumgarner and his friend, 19, were cleaning guns at a home near Markle. As the 19-year-old was cleaning a handgun, it fired a .45-caliber bullet. The bullet hit Bumgarner in the head.

Bumgarner was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery but the injuries were too severe and he passed away Sunday evening.

According to our partner in news, The Journal Gazette, police are investigating but no arrests have been made.
