Gov. Pence Declares May As Motorcycle Safety And Awareness Month (VIDEO)

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (21Alive) -- Governor Mike Pence has designated May as "Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month" in the State of Indiana.

The announcement was made through a press release from American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE). The idea is to urge Indiana motorists to check twice for motorcyclists on the streets, highways, and roads they share.

According to the release, 2/3 of multiple-vehicle accidents involving a motorcycle were caused by another vehicle violating the motorcyclists right of way.

ABATE is planning a rally this Thursday, May 1st, on Monument Circle in Indianapolis at 11:00 a.m..
