FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Lauren Potter, from FOX's hit television show, "Glee", was the keynote speaker at the 5th annual Abilities Abound event earlier Saturday night at the Courtyard Marriott downtown.

Abilities Abound raises awareness of the accomplishments of people with disabilities during March, which is disabilities awareness month.

Potter, who plays Becky Jackson on Glee and has Down Syndrome, has become a prominent voice advocating for equality, opportunity and respect for individuals of all abilities.

“Everybody is wonderful and they're unique in their special way, inside and outside no matter what they are,” said Potter.

Potter has also become a role model and strong advocate for changing attitudes toward people with disabilities through the national campaign to end the use of the word "retarded".
