Four Compounds Found In Synthetic Drugs Banned

May 22, 2014 Updated May 22, 2014 at 10:13 AM EST

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Indiana Board Of Pharmacy has passed emergency rules banning four different compounds usually found in synthetic drugs.

The board works closely with the Indiana State Police to identify compounds found in synthetic drugs, so swift action can be taken. These rules will extend to next year until the legislature can pass a law banning the substances.

According to representatives from the board, rogue chemists are constantly changing the formulas for synthetic drugs, in order to say ahead of lawmakers.
