Fort Wayne Ranks 28th For Postal Worker Dog Attacks (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Dog attacks on postal workers has become a national problem and Indiana ranks as one of the most common places for such attacks to occur.

Across the nation last year, there were a reported 5, 581 dog attacks on postal workers. Indiana had two cities rank among the worst in the nation. Indianapolis ranked 14th with 29 attacks and Fort Wayne ranked 28th with 13 attacks.

Last year in Fort Wayne, a postal worker missed 19 days of work due to a dog biting him in the hand.

The statistics were released to point out that there is a legitimate danger for postal workers if dogs are not properly restrained. The USPS suggests that dogs should be kept in a separate room during the time when mail is delivered to your home.
