FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – A domestic dispute leads to police being shot at Friday night.

Fort Wayne Police were called to the 3100 block of Harrison Street just after 9 p.m. on a domestic dispute Friday.

Public Information Officer Jason Anthony tells 21 Alive that a Fort Wayne police officer was heading to the scene when we saw a man who fit the description of the one involved in the dispute.

The officer stopped the man, later identified as 33-year-old Daniel Spells, and asked for ID. That’s when police say Spells pulled out a handgun and began firing.

The officer was able to restrain Spells and disarm him as other officers were arriving. Spells is being held in jail without bond.

The officer suffered no injuries except for a cut on his hand.
