Verbatim from the Indiana State Police
According to Trooper John Grant, at approximately 11:10 p.m. he and Trooper Caleb Anderson were at the corner of Greene and Oliver Streets when they overheard radio traffic on Fort Wayne Police's channel indicating that shots had been fired in the Eden Green Apartment complex.
After the radio call, they saw a 2000 Chevrolet Impala exit the complex at a high rate of speed and drive right by the intersection that they were parked at. They observed as the vehicle committed multiple violations including disregarding a stop sign. Anderson and Grant initiated a traffic stop on Wallace Street east of Hanna Street along with officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department.
During their encounter with the four occupants of the vehicle, a female driver and three male passengers, and upon further investigation, a loaded .22 caliber Beretta semi-automatic pistol and a bag with numerous loose .22 caliber ammunition were located on the person of Michael William Bracey, 20 from Fort Wayne.
Further investigation also revealed that the pistol was reportedly stolen during an armed robbery at Lev's Pawn Shop back on January 10th of this year. Bracey was taken to and incarcerated in the Allen County Jail without incident on preliminary charges of possession of stolen property and possession of a handgun without a permit. No further action was taken against the other occupants and they were released.
All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law.
