Fort Wayne Derby Girls To Hold Annual Boot Camp And Tryouts

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Fort Wayne Derby Girls are looking for new members by holding league tryouts.

Fort Wayne Derby Girls are looking for new recruits. During their 2014 season, Fort Wayne Derby Girls rose 24 places in the Worldwide rankings from Women's Flat Track Derby Association. Now the teams is ranked 79th in the world with a 2014 season record of 9-2.

The Derby Girls are looking for hard working women to help continue in their success. They are holding our annual boot camp, a month long roller derby training camp. No skating or derby experience is necessary to join. At the boot camp you will be taught everything basic skating skills to derby stops and falls, footwork, and general fitness and endurance.

To participate in boot camp you will need a helmet, mouth guard, elbow, wrist and knee pads, and quad skates, which rentals are available.

WHEN: Every Tuesday and Thursday beginning Sept. 4 – Oct. 2, 2014, from 8 – 10 p.m.

WHERE: Bell’s Roller Skating Rink, 7009 Indiana 930 in New Haven, Ind.
