FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A former East Allen County Schools teacher pleaded guilty this morning to having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Kristi Metzger, 29, admitted to having sex with the boy and pleaded guilty to Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a class B felony. As part of the plea deal, which has not yet officially been accepted, Metzger will receive a 10 year suspended sentence. Four of those years will be spent on active adult probation. She will also have to register as a sex offender for 10 years and will not be subject to the 1,000 foot rule as determined by the registry. As part of the agreement, two other counts of sexual misconduct were dropped as well as a count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Metzger originally entered a plea of not guilty in her November trial. It was in that trial that the boy took the stand against Metzger and testified that he had hung out at her home multiple times to play with Metzger’s son. In April 2010, the boy told Metzger that he was upset over the death of a friend. From there, the boy was offered three to four beers and asked if he wanted to have sex. He said yes and they went to the garage where they had sex on a couch. According to court documents they had sex multiple times. That trial ended with a hung jury.

Metzger did not comment after entering her plea and only asked that the media be fair to her and her family.

Metzger is no long a teacher at EACS.

Metzger will be back in court March 5 for sentencing. It is at that date when Judge Fran Gull will decide whether to accept the plea agreement.
