SOUTH BEND, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- The St. Joseph County Coroner has identified Steven Davis, 60, and Wesley Caves, 58, as the victims in the South Bend plane crash.
The small private aircraft, a Beechcraft Premier I twin-jet, crashed into three homes in a South Bend neighborhood. Officials say the pilot radioed for help before the crash citing technical problems and tried to land safely but failed.
Reports indicate that Davis and Cave were two of four people on the plane and that the other two, Jim Rogers and Christopher Evans, along with one person on the ground, Diana McKeown, were injured. Two people on the ground were also killed in the crash.
According to our partners in news, The Journal Gazette, Davis was the starting quarterback for the University of Oklahoma from 1973-1975. The 1974 season, the Sooners went 11-0 and then in 1975 they won the national title.
