Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Two adults and three children are safe after a fire broke out in their home on the city's southeast side.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to 3016 Alexander Street around 6:15 Sunday evening. Officials say there was a fire in one of the bedrooms.

When crews arrived on the scene they saw smoke coming from the front of the house. Crews had the blaze under control within 8 minutes, but the house did sustain moderate fire and smoke damage as well as minor water damage.

Officials say the five people inside the home self-evacuated before fire crews arrived. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
