FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- It only took a few hours but the first same-sex couples are beginning to get married all across the state.

Josh and Kenny Edholm from Fort Wayne were wed outside the Allen County Courthouse this afternoon following a ruling today that struck down Indiana's same-sex marriage ban. You can read more about the overturned law here.

Josh, 28, and Kenny, 29, were the first in line to get their marriage license today after the ruling. All of their paperwork is in and they are now officially married in the state of Indiana.

Many counties are still waiting to begin issuing licenses to same-sex couples.

However, ceremonies are taking place in various counties throughout the state.
