First Female Indiana Chief Justice Sworn In

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (21Alive) -- Indiana's first female Chief Justice took her oath of office this afternoon.

Governor Pence administered the oath to Loretta Rush, who has served as an associate Justice on the court since 2012. The departing Chief Justice Brent Dickson will remain a justice until his mandatory retirement in July of 2016.

Loretta Rush is the only woman with a seat on Indiana's highest court, and only the second woman to serve on the court it its history.
