The Fort Wayne Fire Department battled a house fire this afternoon at 736 W. State Street.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the attic vents. They made an interior attack with a hoseline to the second floor by pulling down the ceilings.

The fire was under control within 13 minutes, but the house did sustain moderate fire, smoke, and water damage.

One person was in the house but was able to get out safely before crews arrived.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
