FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Fort Wayne fire crews were busy battling a business fire early Thursday morning.
They were called to "Protective Coating" in the 1600 Block of Birchwood Ave. at around 4:50 a.m.
There was a report of white smoke billowing out of the structure. Initial reports indicate some insulation inside the building had caught fire.
Fire investigators say crews were led to the rear of the complex where they found a small fire located in the roofing material. They say, at first, access to the fire was a problem since the blaze was centered on the side of the building along nearby railroad tracks.
Fire officials say they attacked the fire from above and below and were able to bring the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. No injuries were reported. Investigators believs the fire was sparked by workers cutting metal near the roof. Minor damage was reported to a small area of the roof.
