Fire At Fort Wayne Metals Could Be Related To Chemicals (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Fire crews battled an early morning fire near dangerous chemicals.

Fort Wayne firefighters arrived at the 3600 block of Ferguson Road Sunday morning to find smoke coming from a ventilation system at Fort Wayne Metals wire processing facility.

Firefighters found the ventilation hood system on fire above a pool of potassium sulfate.

They were able to kill the fire using dry powder extinguishers. Crews checked the building and determined all other hazardous materials were contained.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
