MUNCIE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Imagine coming home on Christmas Eve to find your home being burglarized by two people.

According to RTV6, that's what happened to a Muncie family, who, after arriving home from a party on Christmas Eve found two strangers inside their home.

The quick thinking family acted fast and was able to foil the two burglars by blocking all the exits to their home, trapping the would-be burglars inside until police were able to arrive to the scene.

"They kept going from window to window to try to escape," said Muncie PD Detective Kyle Monroe. "The family kept going to different windows they were trying to escape from. Eventually, the male subject decided he was going to make a break for it and dove through the window and landed in the backyard."

According to police, that's when the family captured the male suspects and held them for police.

The two suspects have been identified as Dustin Samuels and Tina Lofton and have been charged with two counts of felony burglary.

"She asked to be let go because the family was 'ruining her Christmas,'" Monroe said.

Police discovered the two also burglarized a home two doors down. Dustin Samuels, the male suspect, was found with the checkbook of the owner of that house.

Samuels and Lofton are being held without bond.
