FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Michael Fabini, 33, pleaded not guilty to the 44 federal charges that allege an egregious drug conspiracy with a national scope.

This past Thursday, a federal grand jury indicted Michael Fabini on 44 counts related to trafficking more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana at a time and laundering the profits through banks and businesses.

The prosecutor said the distribution channels went as far as Arizona and California and said he spend $1.7 million in cash over the past five years, including on his 12,000 square-foot home.

The prosecutor also tied Fabini to a drug house in Harlan where in 2008, agents seized 7,000 lbs. of pot, more than $1 million in cash and several guns.

Another bombshell in court was that agents raided Fabini's mother's house late last year and found one of Micheal's cars there with 35 lbs. of pot in the trunk. His family says the allegations are false.

"In no way, shape or form. Micheal's just a good guy, he's always been a good guy. You could see his demeanor there in the courtroom. He's just a family guy," remarked Fabini's former brother-in-law, Byron Peterson. "You know, you ought to watch him down at the baseball diamond when he's coaching those kids. And that's really the hard part is to imagine him not spending any time with his boys right now."

The judge ordered that Fabini's alleged co-conspirator, Marshall Butler, also be held without bail until his trial on eight similar counts. The trials for both men will be scheduled sometime next week.
