FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The bats were alive Wednesday night at the Rager-Stiverson Softball Game at Turners Field.
The Three Rivers Festival match-up, which marked its 41st year, battles the Fort Wayne Police Department against the Fort Wayne Firefighter Department.
To the winner goes the spoils of a 4-foot trophy and bragging rights for another year. FWPD beat FWFD the past two years.
The friendly game is named for late Fort Wayne Fire Department District Chief Michael Rager Sr., who died while fighting a fire in March of 1972, and Fort Wayne Police Officer Kenneth Stiverson, who was shot and killed during a standoff in July of 1969.
