FWFD Celebrates 175th Anniversary, Presents Check To MDA

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Last night, The Fort Wayne Fire Department celebrated its 175th anniversary and presented the MDA with a check from the recent "Fill The Boot" fundraiser.

More than 400 firefighters joined their families at Parkview Field last night to celebrate the department's anniversary and take in a Fort Wayne Tincaps game. As part of the celebration, the FWFD MDA was also presented a check for $114,000 that was raised from the recent "Fill The Boot" fundraiser.

Also, each FWFD station was presented with a special FWFD themed themed Tincaps jersey to be displayed at their respective stations.

Nearly 100 firefighters volunteered their time to help raise money this year.
