FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - In response to the numerous snow days, the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees has agreed to extend the school day by one hour beginning March 3rd and continuing through April 11th.

Elementary schools will dismiss at 4:30 p.m., middle schools will dismiss at 3:25 p.m., and high schools will dismiss at 3:35 p.m.
The only day that will not be extended is Friday, March 28th because that is the day before Spring Break begins.

FWCS has canceled classes a record 12 times because of the snow, ice and freezing temperatures. The school board says the additional time will allow the district to make up four school days.

The last day of school is slated for Friday, June 6th with the assumption that there will be no more cancellations. Graduation dates and times will remain the same.
