FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) Two big decisions came from the Fort Wayne Community School board Monday night.

Wage Increases
A 2% wage increase and $1/hr. pay raise will be in effect for secretaries, media clerks, assistants, bus assistants, special education assistants and clerks and nutrition services employees for the fiscal year 2013-2014. Then there will be a 2% increase for fiscal 2014-2015.

A 2% wage increase will be given to grounds keepers and interpreters for 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. The increases will be applied retroactively.

A 2% wage increase had already been approved for bus drivers in November.

iPads
The board approved that more than 1,600 iPads be bought for use in elementary and middle school classrooms. 720 iPad minis will be bought ($272,880) for 7th grade math classrooms. 960 iPads with retina displays ($49,840) will be bought as mobile learning labs at the elementary level.
