FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Local girls get a big surprise when their social media post lands them a spot on a celebrity's video.

You've probably heard of "Beliebers" and "Parrotheads." What about "Katycats?" That's the name given to the biggest Katy Perry fans.

Earlier this month, Katy asked her "Katycats" to upload Instagram videos showing what makes their city special.

Livia, Chloe, and Lauren were just a few of the 8,000 fans hoping to get noticed, but they never thought they would make the cut.

With colorful wigs, lollipops, and streamers, they recorded a short video.

It worked because the pop star used their video, last week on her Twitter page, to announce her upcoming world tour.

In just days, the YouTube compilation has nearly 900,000 views.

"We went to Glenbrook [Square Mall] and we were dancing on the carousel. We went to candy shops and we were just going crazy singing her songs. It was just crazy," said 12-year-old Livia.

The girls say this showed them creativity pays off. They hope to continue having fun and making videos.

The North American part of Katy Perry's tour kicks off in June.
