Events Around Fort Wayne For Memorial Day Weekend

 FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer and what better way to begin the season than heading out to a local event.

 
The next few days will see a variety of entertainment options for individuals to take in this holiday weekend.  
 
-Sat-
 
Beatlefest- A free concert beginning at 6 p.m. in the plaza of the downtown Public Library.  Food will be available from Pint and Slice.
 
Barr Street Farmer's Market- The market is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is still located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne on the corner of Wayne and Barr Streets. Free parking is available in the History Center lot along Berry Street and on the streets in the surrounding blocks, with ample opportunities to lock up a bicycle as well. Admission to the History Center is free during market hours.
 
Farmer's Market/Winterfest-  Join your neighbors on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the Month through the winter for a Farmers' Market, right here in our neighborhood. Building is located one block south of Creighton on Fairfield. Parking Lot available off the Pierce Avenue Alley. Follow the signs. Doors are at the rear of the building
 
Tincaps vs. Lansing- Come out and watch the Fort Wayne Tincaps take on the Lansing Lugnuts at Parkview Field.  The game starts at 7:05 p.m..  Tickets are as low as $5.
 
Hotel California: A Salute to the Eagles- An eagles tribute band comes to Foellinger Theater to put on a show that salutes the rock band The Eagles.  The show starts around 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.
 
Winery Celebration- Two-EE's Winery will be having a celebration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.. There will be music, food, and of course, wine tasting.  Two-EE's Winery is located at 6808 N. U.S. 24 E in Huntington.

Old Fort Memorial Weekend Observance- The Old Fort is honored to present an opportunity for you to visit with veterans to hear their first hand experiences of serving our country, from WWII to the present. Reenactors will also be on hand to share military stories from the days of the earliest settlers in this territory until WWI . A memorial flag ceremony will begin the afternoon at 1:00. Donations will be used to support the Honor Flight program.

Memorial Day Parade- The Allen County Council of Veterans Organizations is hosting Fort Wayne's annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Parnell Ave. and State St.. It follows Parnell to the Coliseum's Memorial Hall.

Decatur Memorial Day Parade- The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. at American Legion Post 43. The parade wil end up at the Peace Monument on the courthouse lawn for memorial ceremonies.  The speaker will be the Honorable Superior Court Judge Patrick Miller. After the speech, wreaths will be placed at the crosses of the war dead.  The new veterans wall will also be dedicated, as well as the flagpole.
