DECATUR, Ind. (21Alive) -- Poor road conditions are to blame for an early morning slide-off of a North Adams Community School bus.
The picture, taken by a photographer for the Decatur Daily Democrat shows the scene shortly after the children were picked up by another bus.
North Adams Community School district was one of the few districts in the area that was not closed Wednesday. Nobody was hurt in the mishap, but some parents in the district are mad at the Superintendent who decided not to call off school.
A decision like this is never cut-and-dry. As we saw, road conditions can vary greatly over a short distance and a short period of time. That makes the decision hard for superintendents since they have to decide on delays and closings hours before the school day begins, with plenty of time for conditions to change.
