ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- A fatal crash occurred on I-469 shortly after 2:30 this afternoon when a driver flipped their car in the southbound lane of I-469.
According to personnel at the scene, the driver was heading eastbound on Parent Rd.and went through the guardrail, hit the embankment, flipped over, and landed on it's top in the southbound lane of I-469. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Allen County Coroner identified the driver as Ricky Gene Richhart, 51, of New Haven. The crash has been ruled as an accident.
Both lanes of I-469 were closed for nearly two hours.
The following alert has been issued by the Indiana State Police:
"The Indiana State Police and Allen County Sheriff Departments are on the scene of a vehicle crash on I-469 southbound at the 22.4 mile marker, which is north of US 24 near New Haven.
Both southbound lanes are closed at this time and motorists are urged to seek alternate routes of travel and to avoid this area."
