INDIANA (www.incnow.tv) -- Beginning August 8th, Covered With Love will conduct focused donation drives to generate needed supplies for the care kits that are distributed to children removed from dangerous home situations through the Department of Child Services..
“We find that certain supplies regularly are in need to complete care kits,” said Brad Harris of the DCIC. “Some items are in great supply while others are consistently in need, so the idea is to focus on specific items for one month each.” The first focus item will be journals and diaries.
Area businesses have volunteered to serve as drop off location: Preferred Auto on Grandstaff in Auburn, Preferred Auto on North Street in Kendallville, and Kaiser’s Super Market in Butler.
Children being removed often are unable to retain their personal possessions. Care kits include; soap, shampoo, hair brush, deodorant, lotion, journal, pen/pencil, socks, underwear, toothpaste, toothbrush, a Bible, a home-made blanket and are contained in either a Vera Bradley tote bag or a back pack. Since 2009, the DCIC has distributed over 400 care kits have been distributed to children in need.
