Man Charged In Smoke House Murder Appears In Court (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind (21Alive) -- 22-year-old Jamel Coleman made his initial appearance in court today.

Coleman is charged with the murder of Antonio Nino, the Smoke House tobacco shop owner who was killed during an attempted robbery. Coleman was assigned a public defender and will be back in court May 8th.

It was announced that he had been arrested in connection to the murder on April 16th and it took prosecutors just under a week to file charges. He is also being charged for robbery resulting in harm and for using a firearm to commit an offense.

44-year-old Antonio Nino was shot to death on April 7th in an attempted robbery at his Smoke House tobacco store.
