FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – The last-ditch effort to change City Council's votes on the collective bargaining bill has failed.
On May 27, Democratic Councilman John Shoaff (At-Large) proposed a reconsideration, or "do over, vote on the collective bargaining ordinance. The ordinance will eliminate negotiating rights for all city non-public safety union workers.
On Tuesday night, the "do over" vote was turned down 5 to 3 along party lines, with the exception of Dr. John Crawford (R – At-Large), who authored the ordinance, along with Councilman Russ Jehl (R – 2nd District). Crawford was not at Tuesday night’s meeting.
This means the original vote on the collective bargaining ordinance stands.
