FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21ALIVE) --- Abundant Life Church in Fort Wayne on Sunday held a special service to build up folks in the community who’ve suffered tremendous loss.

They called it "Give Hope Away".

It was open to the public, but was organized to help families who have lost loved ones to violence.

The two-hour service honored the memory of recent victims of violent crime and extended comfort and support to their families.

One woman who lost her fiancé in 2010, shared why this lively event means so much.

“I think this service is wonderful. This is exactly what we need. More people working together, more pastors working together, the community coming together as a whole to see what we can do to solve this problem," said U’Ricka Winder.

The church organized the event to help families cope during this difficult holiday season.
