Cashier Doesn't Call Police Because Of Armed Robber Threats

January 14, 2014 Updated Jan 14, 2014 at 11:15 AM EST

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Lassus Handy Dandy on Coldwater Rd.

According to police reports, an officer was inside the store around 11:15 p.m. Monday paying for his items when the cashier informed him that she had been robbed about 30 minutes earlier.

Police say a black male in his upper 20s walked behind the counter and demanded the cashier to let him in to the safe. The cashier told police that she told the man that only the manager had access to the cash drawer, to which he replied "is it worth dying over money?".

The man got money out of the cash drawer. As he was leaving, he told the cashier that he had watched her come to work and knew what she drove.

The robber was described as 5'11", skinny, wearing a black jacket, a Chicago Bulls hat with a red bill and carrying a silver/black handgun. Police say that he did not point the gun at the cashier.
