FORT WAYNE, Ind (NBC33) -- Scoop, the NBC33 mascot, attended an Easter egg hunt at Lakeside Park this morning and helped area children hunt down Easter eggs.

The event was presented by Caring About People Inc., a charity organization dedicated to helping individuals overcome substance abuse. Organizers hid around 1300 eggs around the park this morning for the charity's first Easter Egg Hunt.

Executive Director Kimbra O' Brien said, "We're just here giving some fun back to the community and the kids in our area."

The event also had animals from the Allen County SPCA show up, along with a Firetruck. The idea behind the event was to provide a classic springtime activity that many people may not be able to have on their own.
