KANSAS (21Alive) -- According to a report in the Huffington Post, a 13-year-old boy in Kansas was suspended after he refused to remove a Vera Bradley purse he was wearing at school.

Skylar Davis was suspended Wednesday after the school's assistant principal asked him to remove the purse that Skylar says allows him to express himself.

Davis' mother told KCTV that the student handbook doesn't mention purses. The Superintendent told KCTV that junior high students have never been able to bring bags into core classes. His mother also reports that administrators are now saying the teenager was suspended for foul language.
