FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to invite you to Start Something by participating in its largest fundraiser of the year – Bowl for Kids’ Sake. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a fun event where anyone in the community can take part.

Even if you don’t like bowling, it’s ok because this event is not about the bowling; it’s about helping children in Northeast Indiana and Southcentral Michigan get back on the path to success. 100% of the funds raised go directly to helping match children in need with a mentor.

The concept is simple. Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for “Team Captains” to get themselves and four other friends, family members or co-workers to form a team consisting of five total members. This Team Captain will then work with Big Brothers Big Sisters to reserve a date/time available to bowl, and then encourage team members to raise pledges and then show up on the bowling celebration date chosen to enjoy free bowling, free snacks, free refreshments and awesome door prizes. Each team member is encouraged to raise $100 or more in pledges, and incentive prizes will be awarded to those that raise more. Depending on the amount raised, these incentive prizes range from T-shirts, Visa Gift Cards, Apple TV, Beats Solo Headphones or Beats Pills to Mini iPads and a grand prize of a 55” Samsung Smart TV and Blu Ray player.

“We participate in Bowl for Kids’ Sake every year because it’s fun, easy, and a great teambuilding opportunity,” said Rick Hoffman, Big Brother and VP of Administration at WaterFurnace. “As a company, we have a lot of fun bowling with folks that we don’t rub elbows with everyday at work. I recommend it to every company. A lot of families and groups of friends have a great time as well. This is truly the one event that anyone can have fun participating in while helping out the children in need. Every dollar raised goes to helping match a child with a mentor, putting that child back on the path to success and the opportunity for a bright future.”

Dates and times are filling up quickly, so contact Big Brothers Big Sisters soon to reserve a date and time. This year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake event will take place at Thunderbowl #1 in Allen County and 8 other bowling alleys throughout Northeast Indiana and Southcentral Michigan.
