Barbershops Offer Health Screenings In Addition To Haircuts This Saturday (MAP)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Visiting one of 10 local barbershops Saturday could mean more than just getting a haircut, it might save your life!

The Indiana Commission on the Social Status of Black Males (ICSSBM) in conjunction with local commissions and community partners will provide health screenings and education from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Recent figures from the Indiana Department of Health show African American men have the highest mortality rate of any group in Indiana. African American men also suffer from prostate cancer at a higher level in Indiana than any other racial or ethnic group.

Unique Touch at 3416 Paulding Rd.
Optimistic's at 3415 Warsaw St.
Jesse & Sons at 1401 S. Hanna St.
King's Barbershop at 1716 E. Pontiac St.
Jerrell's Barbershop at 2104 S. Clinton St.
Unity Barbershop at 921 E. Pontiac St.
Turn-N-Headz at 4234 Calhoun St.
Precision Cuts at 7504 S. Anthony St.
Qnic Cuts at 3205 Paulding Rd.
