NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - An eight-month-old baby died in a single-car crash on the Noble County and Elkhart County line early Saturday morning.
Officials say Angelica Ibarra, 39, was travelling westbound on CR 900 N and swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting an animal. Ibarra's vehicle then went straight through a curve and hit a tree, striking the rear passenger side.
According to officials, Gael Ibarro, the eight month old baby, died in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four other passengers were badly injured in the crash. Jose Ibarra, 9, was ejected from the car and transported to a local hospital. Erika Ibarra, 10, Ivan Ibarra, 8, and Gerardo Ibarra, 14, were all transported to the hospital with multiple injuries and lacerations to the face, stomach, and neck, according to police.
Ibarra was cited for speeding to avoid collision, child seat violations, and a never licensed operator.
