FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – The Summit City celebrates local women artists with a winter art fair.

The 13th annual Sophia’s Portico fair took place at Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren Saturday.

Twenty-two female artists showed off everything from jewelry and clothing, to oil paintings and pottery.

Organizers believe it's a great way to support both local business and the passion of local women.

“Art and spirituality are very much connected. And the art that is created by these local women artists really comes from their essence, from deep within themselves, and that's a way that they express themselves,” said Terri Duclos, President of Sophia’s Portico Board President.

Duclos encourages people to “shop small” and support local businesses when searching for holiday gifts this year.
