FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Two more Fort Wayne apartment complex robberies over the weekend brings the total to ten for all of last week.
Police say all ten have been concentrated on six different complexes: Autumn Creek, Cambridge Square, Canterbury Green, Colony Bay, Gardenview and Island Club apartments since Jan. 7.
Robberies No. 9 and No. 10 happened Saturday nights at Colony Bay and Canterbury Green, respectively. Police say in the Colony Bay incident, an armed man ambushed a couple, chasing the male victim into the building and hitting in the head with a gun. Nothing was reported stolen. The suspect fled on foot.
At Canterbury Green, a male victim was approached in the car port by a male suspect with a firearm. The suspect stole the victim's cell phone, cash and loose change. The victim was not injured.
In each robbery, armed men approached residents getting out of cars and walking into apartment buildings.
And though police say the crimes look to be related, they say it does not appear all ten are work of the same people.
"It's a little bit different this weekend," Fort Wayne police officer Raquel Foster says. "We're not certain that it's the same individuals."
Detectives are looking for a white or light-colored boxy-style Jeep Cheerokee from the 1990s or early-2000s in the eight other robberies. No description has been given in the robberies Saturday night.
Anyone with information on any of the ten robberies is asked to call Fort Wayne police.
