FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Fort Wayne police are searching for a group of men responsible for Sunday's violent armed robbery at Ramarn Asian Grocery.
21Alive has obtained multiple surveillance videos of the crime from the husband and wife who operate the grocery on Decatur Road. The couple is not fluent in English, so their son served as a translator to police and 21Alive.
The videos show four men with masks and guns entering the grocery shortly after 7:15 Sunday evening. Police reports indicate there may be five men involved. The couple told police, even though the suspects wore masks, they could see their eyes and believed the suspects were black males.
The video also shows one of the suspects holding a gun near the male victim's head. The sound of a gun shot can then be heard. According to police reports, the man told police the suspects fired a shot near his head, narrowly missing him.
Another suspect can be seen going behind the cashier counter and shoving the female victim into the counter. The video also shows a suspect shooting a video monitor. Both victims told police the suspects hit them with guns, but neither suffered severe injuries.
The suspects took the cash register, and video shows the male victim being pushed down as the last suspect fled the store.
Police reports indicate a K9 officer helped track the suspects to the corner of Hanna and Burns, aided by fresh footprints in the snow. At the intersection, police found part of the cash register and a roll of receipt paper.
Reports indicate the suspects were then tracked to Dowington Drive, where fresh tire tracks were seen heading south. Witnesses report seeing a white 90's four door Cadillac previously parked in the area.
Tips can be directed to Crime Stoppers at (260)436-STOP.
