FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – It was a day of volunteering for the Democratic candidates at Community Harvest Food Bank.

Candidates arrived at the Community Harvest Food Bank (CHFB)Saturday morning to help distribute food to those in need.

Community Harvest in Fort Wayne has been helping to fight hunger for the past 30 years in its nine county service area.

The food bank distributes nearly 13-million pounds of food annually to those in need, but CHFB is in need of volunteers.

“We encourage others to come out and give themselves and help the community, especially Community Harvest Food Bank. They need volunteers not just on Saturdays, but on every day of the week also,” said Sharon Tucker, the Democratic Candidate for 1st District County Council.

Individuals wanting to volunteer can visit the food bank's website at www.communityharvestfoodbank.org.
