FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – The teen who fled the scene after his friend was shot dead by a man they were trying to rob, will face felony murder charges and be tried as an adult.

Omar Ruffin, 16, is charged with attempted armed robbery after he and Jaquese Dandridge,18, allegedly approached a man who was on his front porch with the intent to rob him.

According to court documents, Dandridge grabbed one of two men standing on the porch and put what was later determined to be a pellet gun, up to his neck and pulled him to the side of the house. During the struggle, Dandridge threatened the man’s life and the man pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot Dandridge three times.

Ruffin, who had grabbed the other man by the throat and attempted to enter the home, ran when he heard the gun shots.

The door was locked and the man Ruffin had been struggling with, knocked in the door, went to two children in the home and hid them in a room before he grabbed another gun.

When he exited the house the man who shot Dandridge was coming up the stairs and told him to call police, according to court documents.

Police say Ruffin told them that Dandridge needed money and had requested Ruffin’s assistance.
